Our Story

Rooted in the Mountains, Grown from a Dream

Dar Megdaz began with a choice — one made not in comfort, but in commitment. While many families moved to cities for opportunity, Mohamed and his father stayed behind, believing that the richness of their land, culture, and way of life was something the world would one day seek out.

What started as a few rooms built slowly from stone has become a place where stories are shared over mint tea, where strangers become guests and guests become friends. Dar Megdaz is more than a guesthouse — it’s a promise that the soul of a village can still shape the future.

The Spirit of Amazigh Hospitality

Ancient Traditions, Living Welcome

The Amazigh people — known as the Indigenous stewards of North Africa — have lived in these mountains for millennia. Their language, customs, and architecture are deeply entwined with the rhythms of nature and community.

At Dar Megdaz, you don’t just observe these traditions — you live alongside them. Bread is baked daily in clay ovens. Water is gathered from ancient stone channels. Conversations happen slowly, often under the open sky. And if you’re lucky, you might witness a wedding, a harvest festival, or a quiet moment that becomes a lifelong memory.

A Place to Stay — and to Stay With

Personal Journeys in a Shared World

We believe that travel isn’t about ticking places off a map. It’s about how you arrive, and who you meet along the way. At Dar Megdaz, you’re not just given a room — you’re welcomed into a rhythm, a pace, and a perspective.

Stay a night or stay a week. Join Mohamed for a trek. Watch the stars rise over the village. Or simply sit and listen. Here, there’s no itinerary — just moments that unfold naturally, and a quiet invitation to be part of something enduring

Everyone arrives in Megdaz for a reason.

We hope you find yours.
